ROCK CITY MORGUE Perform Surprise Gig With MELISSA AUF DER MAUR
August 10, 2004ROCK CITY MORGUE, the New Orleans, Louisiana-based band featuring former WHITE ZOMBIE bassist Sean Yseult and ex-MAN SCOUTS OF AMERICA frontman Rik Slave, played a surprise gig July 24 with fellow friend and musician Melissa Auf Der Maur (ex-SMASHING PUMPKINS, HOLE),just two days before their official debut as a quartet at Lounge Lizards. "Both shows went well thanks to John Gray (MAN SCOUTS OF AMERICA) filling in on drums, and the second gig doubled as Rik’s birthday bash!" the band write on their web site. "Grayscout also trekked up to NYC with the band to play a show at CB's Gallery, where Sean was also having her art opening. Both shows in NYC went extremely well, bringing out an eclectic crowd including Danny Fields, Arturo Vega, Steve Blush, Carlo McCormick, Star Spangles, and Tatum O'Neal. (!) The band would especially like to thank Handsome Dick Manitoba, MotorCity, Carlo McCormick and LIT, and all of the other bars and clubs that took care of us into the wee hours — we had a blast! Also a huge thanks to James at Miller for hooking up both of the shows — you made the events quite a bit more eventful!"
ROCK CITY MORGUE's "Some Ghouls" EP is now available through Antidote Records. An MP3 of the track "Falling Apart" can be downloaded at this location.
ROCK CITY MORGUE will be opening for the CRAMPS on September 29 in New Orleans.
